Did You Know it’s World Mental Health Day?

Hey,

I know today a lot of people may be more mindful about mental health, what they've been through themselves and what others may be going through. It's great that awareness is being raised and I do hope more people learn that it's ok not to be ok and we all keep this in mind beyond today and all the messages we see showing support.

I'm absolutely no expert, however I know that we all have struggles, myself included.

From working with hundreds of women to help them feel happier and healthier one thing I see so often is people being too hard on themselves and feeling down, like complete failures.

I feel it myself.

I've given the fake smile and pretended my way through the day whilst feeling down, lonely, vulnerable, scared, worried and sometimes like I want to give everything up and hide away.

I've heard about people commenting on how I look, especially since having Danny with the 'She's gone too far' judgements without a seconds thought to the stress I may have been going through in private.....many of these comments coming from busy mums themselves.

We all have experiences to deal with and try to stay strong, even being the shoulder to cry on when we're feeling down ourselves.

I've known my clients to hide away due to shame, guilt and embarrassment because they feel they're not good enough.

What I've learned is

  • as hard as it may be - talk with someone. Whether it's a professional, someone you can trust or close family or friends. There is support out there.
  • Be kind. Even this morning one of the lovely girls I trained with said 'Anyway Tara, you must hear all us girls going on about ourselves, how are you?'

A simple question which goes a long way and even if you're not quite prepared for the response, be there, be kind and give your support.
We all need it.

It's a busy world yet we can all feel lonely.

I know today will help some to come out and admit they're not ok, very many will still suffer in silence.

What I love about the girls in my online group is that most of them have never met each other, and as they live so far away, probably never will.
But they all have a lot in common and one thing being the struggles.

When someone asks for help in the group, this is when the girls in the group show up.

They give their support,
They share their experiences,
They offer advice and mainly because they've all been there at one point (even being the one that hides away too).

There is no judgement yet plenty of kindness and a place to go when in need. For that I'm so proud of everyone in the support group.

It's more than a 'weight loss' group or 'exercise' group. It's a lifestyle community where we understand that mental health is a priority and something we all need to focus on for physical health, confidence, happiness and self belief.

Again, I'm not professional but none of us know what people are dealing with so be kind to others and be kind to yourself. You're doing your best ❤️
