Low Calorie Coffee Drinks
If, like me you’re a coffee fan then you will know that all the autumn flavours are out. Spookily Scrumptious, Spiced Pumpkin, Sparklers + Fireworks flavoured coffees, teas + hot chocolates. They can be tempting but they do come at quite a high calorie price. I don’t quite fancy bonfire flavour. A bit burnt I reckon. Plus I doubt the calories on some drinks are that worth it.
As you’re out and about in the colder weather, consider the calories in your drink and try and opt for some low calorie coffee drinks. I’m not going to be a party pooper here, you’ll see that at the end of this email, but I want to make you aware.
Surprising calories in some of your favourite coffee drinks
- Bonfire Latte up to 206 kCal
- Pumpkin spice latte up to 423 kCal
- (Vegan version 294 kCal)
- Maple Latte up to 423 kCal
(And for those being conscious and ordering a tall skinny one: 217 kCal)
Best Low Calorie Coffee Drinks
Compared to a filter coffee: 2-3 kcals and an Americano 22 kCals for a large one, there’s a clear choice when it comes to what may be best for you if you want to cut down on calories.
Even your typical tall, semi skimmed latte is 143 kCals. Imagine having one of these every day for a week. That would be just over 1000 kCals just with a simple coffee (and I’m sure some people have more than one *gulp*)
You can see how the weight can slowly creep up in winter when these little treats make their way in. I’m not saying don’t have them, but consider them as part of the bigger picture in your day. An Americano is an easy way to enjoy a hot drink without worrying about the calories.
I’ll be honest. I prefer a Latte these days as my taste has changed and I find an Americano too strong. So, it’s a latte or an Earl Grey for me these days. I have it no more than once a week. Coffee is mainly drunk at home rather than in a coffee shop in my house. So alongside my active lifestyle and good food, there’s plenty of room for a latte without the consequences.
