Does Slimming World Actually Help You Lose Weight

If something’s not working you’ve got to change it. I had a lady contact me because she was engaged but was worried about the wedding. She wanted to lose weight before the big day but her membership with Slimming World wasn’t helping her. She needed to change.

Emily had been doing Slimming World on and off for about 2 years. It worked for a bit, but she wasn’t seeing the results she wanted. On top of that she was feeling demotivated by the meetings. If you’ve ever been to a Slimming World meeting then you will recognise the weekly “awww, everyone’s different, you’ll do better next week”. This wasn’t quite giving her the inspiration that she needed to lose weight.

Sitting there just listening to others results on the scales made her bored and feel rubbish. She decided it was time to change. She was engaged and wanted to lose weight quickly before the wedding.

Now, I’m not Slimming World bashing, at least not completely anyway. I’m sure there’s many out there that have had great weight loss results, and quite possibly had great support and maybe even changed their body and lifestyle forever. However, in this case (and most of the girls I chat with), it didn’t work, and there was a big reason for that. In my opinion of Slimming World, there is too much focus on the number on the scales and the food.

Yes, it’s true that the scales can be ONE measurement you can use to monitor progress, BUT you MUST look at the entire picture of health & happiness. So how do you quit slimming world and why would you want to?

Should You Quit Slimming World

  • Are you happy with how you look in the mirror?
  • Do your clothes fit the way you would like them to?
  • What are your inches?
  • How do you feel?
  • What are your daily energy levels like?
  • Do you get enough sleep and wake up feeling refreshed in the morning?
  • Are you happy with you stress management?

Things Slimming World Don’t Help You With

Just some of the areas I can help you work on improving. While nutrition is one of the main elements to a healthy, happy life, I can also help you with:

This is what Emily did – she was so excited to chat about joining me on the plan, she didn’t even have any questions for me. She knew going back to what she felt ‘comfortable’ with (because that’s all she had done and knew) wasn’t going to help her. It’s time for a different approach.

A better approach in my humble opinion, if it’s time for you to quit doing the same thing over and staying the same.
