choc mix

That’s a fact mind! I have it everyday

(I don’t have PMT everyday though)

I’ve said many a time,

‘Crisps, Cheese, Savoury stuff –

that can all live on the moon for all I care’

Seriously not bothered.

But chocolate……

That’s my thing!

We’ve all got different things that float our boat and that’s mine.

As I said yesterday, today I’m going to talk to you about

PMT, Cravings and how to deal with them.

When you’re focusing on your health, nutrition and weight loss, you may feel initially that all you think about is food. And it’s important to

Distinguish “are you hungry? Or are you craving?’

Very often with the TARAnsformers we have many questions about food. Can I have another snack? etc and my answer will always be.

“Are you hungry? As in having that grumbling, empty feeling in your stomach.

Are you thirsty? Mixing signals is common especially if you haven’t drunk enough

Are you craving? This is actually in your head – habits, boredom. You know when sometimes you’re full, but you still fancy something!”

But they’re often hard to overcome and if you’re experiencing PMT it can be even more challenging to overcome.

Your hormones and brain chemicals change during your menstrual cycle. You feel more sensitive maybe, bit sorry for yourself and maybe that you need / deserve a treat or two.

So, in addition to eating a balanced diet with plenty of protein, fibre, the amount of carbs that work well for you, good sleep and some chill out time to control those stress hormones, you can have some chocolate!

Now obviously I don’t mean dash to the supermarket and load up on some share bags just for yourself!

I mean Cocoa.

Yippeeeeee – This is exactly the type of thing you want to hear.

Something you can have, rather than avoid.

Cocoa is packed with antioxidants, phytochemicals, minerals, and helps with our brain chemicals and ‘happy’ hormones.

Cocoa helps the body release endorphins and dopamine which gives you a sense of well-being and can act as an anti-depressant.

It does sooo much to help your hormones and

you can do SOOOOOOO much with it.

Make bars, ice cream, mousse, chia seed breakfast or even a simple comforting hot chocolate.

A hot chocolate may be the best option as it works better on its own.

Just add a teaspoon to some hot water, give it a good stir, maybe sprinkle some cinnamon on and MMMMMMMMM.

For 1 tablespoon of cocoa you have 20 kCals, 1 g Fat, 0.8g Carbs, 1g Fibre and 1g Protein.

So you never have to feel guilty again.

Keep Fit, Fab & Guilt free!
