Fat Fat and more Fat
Arrrggghhhhh
Why is Fat so confusing.
So foods with fat in were demonised, then everyone started cutting it out and eating higher carb & more processed foods instead…..then put on more weight.
So now we know this, fat is back on the menu
YIPPPEEEEEEE
But don’t go to crazy now.
You know what it’s like, you find out something is good for you then you want to push it
“it’s healthy, so you can eat as much as you want”
Nope!!
Not the way to go either.
As with anything – moderation s the way forward.
So here’s a few things to think about.
Calories and weight loss
The amount of calories you eat is important. To lose weight you need to be in a deficit, however,
what is also important is what those calories are made of.
You need to have a balance of food (including fat) to help keep your hormones in check,
help you feel full and satisfied and enjoy your food.
It will not help you or be sustainable to cheat your way through your calories
(like using your daily calories on treats. It’s unhealthy!)
Eat fat in moderation
Now that you know it’s ok to eat some of your favourite foods, be mindful of how much you’re eating.
Per gram there are 9kcals in fat, so these will be adding a considerable chunk to your intake.
Make sure you keep to the portion sizes and don’t eat them at every meal and snack.
Today’s email has been inspired by a conversation I had with the lovely Beth yesterday morning
” So Tara, what foods are fat…I think I’m a bit confused”
Okaaayyyy.
So all the gorgeous food I would recommend you eat
(but in moderation and not at every meal….consider you whole day)
Avocado. approx 77% fat an high in potassium…super yummy & creamy.
Cheese. WHAT?!?!?!?! I CAN HAVE CHEESE!!!!?????!!
Yes of course…be sparing with your grating & slicing and make sure what you eat with is is healthy
Dark Chocolate – YYEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH! Tara’s fave!! Loaded with nutrients and antioxidants and great for cravings.
Whole eggs – yep, bring on the omelettes, wraps, dippy ones, scrambled ones, pancakes, muffins!!!!
Fish like Salmon, mackerel, trout, sardines. All super foods for your brain
Nuts: Enjoy your fave as a topping or snack. Always portion them out no more than 8-10.
Chia seeds Soak these with some water and cocoa….healthy pudding in minutes!!
Coconut oil This is awesome not only to use in cooking, but on your skin too. Bye Bye Wrinkles!!
Now eating healthy may seem a little more appetising hey!!
So in summary….get the fat in, but don’t go to crazy. Portion control all the way!
